Fear is a part of life. We have all experienced moments when fear seems overwhelming, whether it's fear of the unknown, failure, or loss. But God gives us powerful promises in His Word that provide comfort and strength. Let's explore two such promises in Psalm 56:3 and Isaiah 41:13.
Psalm 56:3 says, "But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you." Here, David acknowledges fear but chooses to trust in God. The Hebrew word for "trust", (batach), means to rely on or feel secure in. David's situation was dire - he was captured by his enemies - but he didn't let fear define him. He turned to God in faith.
Isaiah 41:13 offers us a beautiful promise from God: "For I hold you by your right hand - I, the Lord your God. And I say to you, 'Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.'" This verse paints a picture of God's personal presence with us, holding our hand and providing help. The Hebrew word (azar) conveys active assistance - God is not just present, He is involved in our lives, guiding and protecting us.
When fear strikes, acknowledge it, then choose to trust God. He is faithful, and His presence is your strength. As Max Lucado wisely said, "Feed your fears, and your faith will starve. Feed your faith, and your fears will." Remember, God is holding your hand and leading you through every storm.
So today, take a step of faith. Trust God with your fears, and rest in the assurance that He is with you, guiding you every step of the way.
