Go! And Wait with Purpose

Waiting. It's not something most of us enjoy, is it?

We wait in queues, we wait for answers, we wait for change. But in Acts 1:4, Jesus gives a clear instruction to His disciples: "Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you the gift he promised, as I told you before."

Jesus had just ascended into heaven. The disciples had witnessed His glory, heard His commission, and were no doubt brimming with anticipation. But before the power came, before the Church was birthed in fire at Pentecost, they were told to wait.

And they did. Not passively. Not with folded arms and distracted minds. No, they waited with purpose. Acts 1:14 tells us: "They all met together and were constantly united in prayer..."

Isn't that beautiful? The waiting room of God isn't empty - it's full of promise. It's not a place of apathy, but of active prayer, of unity, of preparation.

As we journey from Ascension to Pentecost, let me ask you: how are you waiting?
Are you waiting for direction? For breakthrough? For the next step in your walk with Christ? Don't waste the wait. Like the first disciples, let your waiting be filled with prayer, expectation, and unity with your fellow believers.

Because the promise of Pentecost is still true today:
"You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you..." (Acts 1:8, NLT)

God's timing is perfect. His power is real. And His Spirit is still poured out on those who wait for Him.

So this week, let's wait with purpose. Let's pray. Let's seek. Let's believe. Because the fire of Pentecost is coming.
